Root Canals

Root Canal Therapy in Tucson

When teeth are in a precarious situation due to decay or infection, root canal therapy is their savior. At Swan Dental, we offer root canal therapy services to our patients in need. Colby Echols, DDS, saves teeth using this essential technique.

It’s imperative that patients seek help at the first sign of tooth infection. The earlier Dr. Echols can treat infected teeth, the higher the likelihood of a successful treatment and a saved tooth.

Symptoms of a Compromised Tooth

Patients should stay vigilant for signs of infected teeth. Swelling, aching, and sensitivity all point to an infection present in the oral structure. Be on the lookout for:

Toothache pain
Swelling that may be localized to the area of discomfort, or spread throughout the face, head, and neck
Abnormal sensitivity to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Prolonged sensitivity to temperature after the stimulus has been removed
Swollen or tender gums
Discoloration of the tooth, usually darkening

Keep in mind that on occasion, no apparent symptoms are preset. This is why it’s important to visit the dentist at least twice a year for a comprehensive examination and cleaning. Some burgeoning infections are only detectable with an x-ray machine and the skilled eye of a dentist.

Endodontic Therapy: A Simple Solution to a Potentially Complex Problem

Endodontic therapy is the medical term for what is commonly referred to as a root canal. Many patients report this treatment feels like receiving a filling. With the use of anesthetic, Dr. Echols’ patients remain comfortable as he saves their teeth.

To complete a course of endodontic therapy, first Dr. Echols will anesthetize the patient. After creating a small opening, he extracts the infected root material and replaces it with a body-safe substitute. Teeth outfitted with a synthetic pulp cavity will not succumb to infection in the future.

Save Your Teeth with Colby Echols, DDS

At our Tucson dental practice, we save teeth every day. Although extraction may be necessary in some extreme cases, and teeth can be replaced with methods like dental implants, it’s always best to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible. Choose Swan Dental to alleviate your toothache discomfort and preserve your natural smile.

Very impressed. Dr. Echols conducted much of the cleaning himself and thoroughly examined my teeth and gums. Staff members were friendly and professional. I'm glad I chose this practice.

Swan Dental is a very friendly yet professional Dental Office with a great atmosphere, friendly staff and Doctor. This was my first visit and was called in exactly at my appointed time; I'm am very pleased so far. I'm happy I tried them. BTW, the prices they charged were a little lower than those of my previous dentist.
Update - some months later, went in for 2 fillings. Dr Echols and his assistant had them both done in about 20 minutes, and no pain. Simply a great dental office!

I live in North Carolina and was in Tucson helping our daughter move. A poor choice in candy selection resulted the crown on a lower molar "popping off". I called several dentists on a Monday morning and one of the dentist's receptionist referred me to Swan Dental - her personal dentist. The folks at Swan were incredible. They were efficient, kind, friendly, professional ... the superlatives just keep coming. I was thrilled to be seen the same morning I called and the dentist cemented the crown expeditiously. The receptionist, assistant, and dentist were all extraordinary. I wish the dental professionals in my home town were as focused on providing such an exceptionally positive experience. Thanks!
